I kid you not - great leaders can learn a lot by watching Sesame Street
I caught a classic episode the other day when my girls had it on and that day’s lesson (hidden in a song) was ‘One of these things is not like the other’.
An example I know quite well is the critical difference between being a ‘leader’ and a ‘people manager’.Many organizations use these terms interchangeably, but they are not the same.
A leader articulates a vision and inspires others to move toward that vision.
A people manager inspires and equips employees to do great work.
It is possible to be good at both roles simultaneously. But there are also many examples of great leaders who are terrible people managers and vice versa.
